Who we are

A non-profit organization working to change the way communities see insects — one field survey, one essay, one conversation at a time.

Our organization

Micratena AC — Insect conservation from within the community

Micratena is a Mexican non-profit organization (Asociación Civil) based in Chocamán, Veracruz. We work to promote and take action on human and native insect well-being — encouraging communities to care for insects and recognizing them as essential elements for our future survival.

In Mexico — and especially in small municipalities like Chocamán — insects have been seen for generations as a nuisance, a problem to eliminate. But without insects, there is no food on our tables. Without them, we would live buried in unrecycled waste. Without them, there is no humanity.

Donataria Autorizada — Micratena AC holds authorized nonprofit status in Mexico. Your donation is tax-deductible for Mexican taxpayers. We also receive international donations — our authorization number is 600-01-06-00-00-2026-0545.
